Special Cover on Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development released by Chief Guest Padma Bhushan, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, former Speaker of Lok Sabha and MP from Indore, Shri Shankar Lalwani, Padma Shri Janak Palta McGilligan and Ms. Preeti Agarwal, Postmaster General, Indore Region at Dak Kunj premises under the aegis of the Department of Posts, India.

 In her welcome address, Preeti Agarwal said: Since it's inception in 2010, Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development Indore has been empowering rural and tribal women by training in solar cooking to rural communities .The centre has trained thousands of tribal women as community workers and trainers in solar cooking. Owning and using Solar Cookers has helped local women gain self-esteem and became entrepreneurs using solar cooking ,generating income.Chief Guest Smt. Sumitra Mahajan said I am immensely pleased to unveil the special cover of Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development for its decades of work protecting the environment , health and dignity of rural and tribal women . Janak ' s husband Jimmy did a commendable and exemplary work 30 years ago when no one even knew its name. He built a wonderful big solar kitchen for cooking food for 200 tribal women in the Baha'i House premises. Having left his country Britain, he made various types of solar cookers and solar devices throughout his life. Jimmy was wholeheartedly dedicated to environmental protection. Tribal women also took solar cookers to their village. Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development,named after him, is protecting the environment, health and dignity of thousands of rural women using solar cookers. It seems that he was dedicated to environmental protection. Those women told that they got rid of the smoke, saved the forest, but the most important thing was that they were saved from the risk and traum of rape during going to collect fuel wood . Janak has also dedicated his life to the environment and society. The special postal cover of Jimmy McGilligan Center for Sustainable Development is unveiled to honor the service of Jimmy and Janak. Hearty thanks and best wishes to the Postal Department. Member Parliament of Indore ,Shankar Lalwani also shared his very touching memories of meet Jimmy McGilligan many times at Barli Institute ,even enjoyed food prepared in the solar kitchen and refreshed many memories of Jimmy s simple nature,hard work and efforts. The service given at the Barli institute by both Jimmy and Janak Didi has set example of sustainable development.Janak Ji is an epitome of Protection of Environment and Sustainable living and training people every day since creating this sustainable development centre in her late husband Jimmy McGilligan 's name.We all have to follow her sustainable practices in large numbers to accomplish Net Zero. Many thanks to the Postal Department for this special postal cover. Center Director Janak Palta McGilligan humbly thanked the Postal Department, Sumitra Tai, Shankar Lalwani for this honor. Subhanshu Sharma expressed gratitude on behalf of the Postal Department of Indore Region.Program was attended by dignitaries including the Trustees of this Centre.
