Janak Didi linked clean energy to regenerative food systems

Janak Palta McGilligan presented her 4 decades of Journey #Regeneratingbarrenland by practicing #Sustainableliving for 41 years : during #RegenrativeDharmaConvening held at #kanhashantivanam , Hyderabad
#DrJanakPaltaMcGilligan,( Padma Shri ) graced the Regenrative Dharma Convening held at Kanha ShantiVanam Hyderabad on 30th and 31st Oct 2026.
She spoke about her work across decades dedicated towards advancing regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, and rural self-reliance.
This event was a coming together of various faiths to bring Sarkaar, Bazar, Samaj, Sanchar and Sadhana together in scaling regenrative practices and increasing farmers involved in regeneration from 2 to 25% for 2047 Vikasit Bharat.
A major pioneer of solar thermal technology in India, she linked clean energy to regenerative food systems. By introducing community-scale solar cooking and solar food drying, she reduced rural deforestation (firewood gathering) and enabled women farmers to process and preserve surplus produce locally without spoilage or fossil fuels.
Dr Janak represented Baháʼí community and here ecological model directly mirrors several fundamental principles found in Baháʼí scriptures and values..
Baháʼu'lláh, the founder of the Baháʼí Faith, wrote that agriculture is the foundation of economic and social life. McGilligan translated this into practical training for the most vulnerable agricultural producers—tribal and rural women—restoring traditional, soil-nourishing farming practices as the bedrock of community stability.
The Baháʼí Faith teaches that science and spiritual values must work hand in hand. McGilligan paired modern appropriate technologies (like parabolic solar cookers and micro-wind energy) with deep ethical commitments to selfless service (khidmat), environmental stewardship, and moderation.
