Urjasvini Special School organises ‘waste to best’ workshop to teach 3Rs

Urjasvini Special School, Indore, organised an art workshop on World Environment Day to promote environmental awareness and demonstrate ways to reuse household waste. The event was designed to familiarise students and participants with the principles of the 3Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.
During the session, participants were shown how discarded coconut shells could be transformed into plant pots. Workshop artist Pooja Patidar explained that simple techniques could turn everyday waste into functional items. She said the initiative aimed to encourage people to find practical uses for materials often thrown away. “Even small efforts in reusing and recycling can make a difference to our environment,” Patidar added.
School director Dr Vini Jhariya said the workshop was part of the school’s ongoing efforts to involve students and the community in sustainability practices. She noted that participants were encouraged to take similar projects home to reduce waste and adopt eco-friendly habits, emphasising that understanding the 3Rs was a step towards responsible living.
