An educational visit was organized by Shri Vaishnav Institute of Management and Science for the students of BCA, BBA, B.Sc. programme to the Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development, Village Sanawadiya, Indore They were welcomed by director of the Centre Padma Shree Dr. Mrs Janak Palta McGilligan. She gave them a personal tour of the Entire Biodiversity Campus run with self sustainable renewable energy with Sun and Wind. Students had the first opportunity to gain practical insights into sustainable living.
Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, shared her inspiring life journey and dedication to environmental sustainability. She highlighted the importance of adopting eco -friendly practices in daily life and emphasized the role of individuals in protecting natural resources for future generations. Her experiences and commitment to sustainable development motivated the students to become responsible environmental stewards.
She expressed her concern about the growing challenges of energy and food scarcity and stressed the importance of energy conservation. This included by using renewable energy, solar cooker, alternative biofuels, medicinal botany and organic farming and community participation in preserving energy and food resources. Students gained valuable knowledge about practical measures that can help ensure sustainable food availability and Sustainable Economy with Ecology
She explained the causes and consequences of energy wastage and food wastage and discussed the importance of zero waste management, decentralized power production and shared her no shopping philosophy. She highlighted the crucial role of energy saving in ensuring a better future. Learning Outcomes The visit enabled students to: Understand the principles of sustainable development.• Gain knowledge about food and energy conservation practices.• Gain awareness of oral care and hygiene products.• Learn about culinary goods and bio compressed fuels.• Recognize the importance of individual and collective responsibility in energy and food protection. Develop a positive attitude towards adopting sustainable practices in everyday life.

The sessions on water conservation and air conservation conducted under the UNEP program provided students with valuable knowledge and practical insights into environmental sustainability. The visit successfully inspired participants to contribute towards the conservation of natural resources and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. "
