In a rare moment of connection, creativity, and community healing, the Create Stories Social Welfare Society hosted an Empowerment Chaupal at a long-stay home for women in Indore. The gathering blended poetry, emotional support, and digital literacy, offering women — many of whom have lived on the margins — an opportunity to be heard, seen, and inspired.

Words That Heal: A Visit from Michael Probst

One of the day’s most impactful moments came from Michael Probst, a software developer and poet from Austria. Probst shared poetry rooted in resilience, love, and self-worth. His words, translated where necessary, resonated deeply with the audience.

“Words can bind us together, heal our wounds, and remind us that we are all worthy of love,” Probst told the women. His gentle delivery and heartfelt expression created a safe space for emotional reflection, offering comfort to those who had faced years of social neglect.

Alongside his poetry, Probst introduced participants to the empowering potential of technology. He encouraged the women to view digital tools not as obstacles, but as bridges — enabling communication, learning, and even economic participation.

Deepak Sharma on Community Empowerment

Deepak Sharma, president of Create Stories Social Welfare Society, said the purpose of the chaupal was not limited to skill-building. “This isn’t just about learning new things,” he said. “It’s about belonging — making sure every woman here knows she is part of something, that she matters.”

He added that empowerment requires both emotional and intellectual engagement. “When women feel seen, heard, and supported, that’s when real transformation begins.”

Testimonies from Within: Anita Pal Speaks

Anita Pal, a long-time resident of the home, reflected on how transformative the session had been. “This day reminded us that we are seen,” she said. “For many of us, this is a place where we feel invisible. But today, with Michael’s poetry and Deepak’s presence, we remembered that we matter.”

She shared how the exposure to technology and digital tools had changed her perception. “I always felt left out when it came to technology. But now I know it’s not something to be afraid of — it’s something we can learn and use to build our lives.”
