Inspiring Educational Visit to Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development for Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences Students, Organized by IMA Student Chapter 

The Student Chapter of the Indore Management Association (IMA) organized an inspiring educational visit to the Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development for management students from Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore. The objective of this visit was to familiarize students with the practical aspects of sustainable development, environmental conservation, and social responsibility.

During the program, students had the opportunity to interact directly with Padma Shri Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, Founder-Director of the Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development. She provided detailed insights into the importance of living in balance with nature, water conservation, energy saving, organic farming, waste management, and eco-friendly lifestyles. She emphasized that if the youth understand their responsibility towards the environment today, a better future can be created for coming generations. During the visit, students observed the solar energy system, rainwater harvesting setup, organic farming practices, waste management systems, and various models of sustainable development established at the centre. They gained a close understanding of the organization's operations and expanded their knowledge by asking experts questions on various topics. Faculties Dr. Ajit Tomar, Dr. Neelam Verma, and Dr. Jagdeep from Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore, accompanied the students on this educational visit. Appreciating the initiative, they noted that such experiential visits provide students with opportunities for real-life learning alongside textbook knowledge, while also fostering leadership qualities, a sense of social responsibility, and an innovative mindset. All the students and faculty members described the visit as highly inspiring and informative, expressing their gratitude to Padma Shri Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan and the Centre for real life experience of Sustainable Development.. They noted that such programs play a vital role in fostering environmental sensitivity and a sense of social responsibility among the youth. The Indore Management Association’s Student Chapter will continue to organize similar industrial and organizational visits, expert interactions, and experiential learning programs to ensure the holistic development of students.
