Third day of training workshop at Jimmy McGilligan Centre For Sustainable Development started

with the Baha'i prayer by the Director of the Centre Dr.( Mrs) Janak Palta McGilligan. It was followed by Hanuman Chalisa recital by a 8 years girl Savya Porwal and Naitya Batra 's Kathak Dance based on theme of Holi.

There was an interesting group of participants including children -youths from three Home Schools

run by Bharti Batra in Silver Springs, , Kasturi from Saket, Shikha Porwal from Sapna-Sangeeta . There were 25 students from St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies along with their Principal Sister Alice Thomas and Faculty Professor Vidhi Prayani .

As Reported by Students and Faculties :

Firstly, we went around and saw amazing range of Solar Cookers, Kitchen Wind mill , water conservation and al the biodiversity .

AS the practical training session started ,Janak Didi taught us making wet and dry colours using flowers like Poi, Parijat, Ambari, Hibiscus, Rose, Tesu, Sindoor and easily available materials like beetroot, Tesu flowers, Bougainvillea flowers, sweet lime peels and others.

She started with showing us Poi seeds, also known as Malabar spinach seeds, which yield stunning red or purple colours. Simply by exerting pressure on the seeds, they release their vibrant pigment, which dissolves readily in water. That makes stikky and Wet Colour of Poi .

Next, she highlighted the Dark mob Bougainvillea flower, a common sight. These flowers are perfect for creating organic gulal. After sun-drying the petals ,just grinding makes a (fine powder )Gulal.

Moving on, she showed us the flame of the forest / Palash flower, renowned for its bright golden orange bright colour .Sun-drying the Palash flowers turned into Gulal and pouring boiling water in the flowers came out as beautiful saffron shade.

To add a delightful twist, Janak Ma'am she turned around all of us with a pot of colour to sniff. It was refreshing scent reminiscent of oranges revealed that it was made from fragrant orange peels, providing not only colour but also a pleasing aroma to our eco-friendly Holi celebration.
