Exciting Training by Janak Palta McGilligan of Making Natural Colours For Happy ,Healthy and Sustainable Holi begins

Dr (Mrs ) Janak Palta McGilligan ,Director Of Jimmy McGilligan Centre has started her innovative and exclusive 'Rangotsav' training workshop for interested people to learn making natural Colours with Solar Cookers . A group of B.ED students from School of Education from Devi Ahilya University, Indore ,accompanied by their Head, Pro Laxman Shinde , Assistant Professor and Placement Officer and faculties ,having arrived at the centre were given a guided tour and they observed the entire biodiversity and could feel all the flowers and plants for making natural Colours .It was also first time for them to see Poi, Palash, Roses ,Tocoma, Bougainvillea, Sindoor, Parijat trees and saw process of solar drying of all the flowers and Orange Peels , all used here to prepare chemical free and vibrant colours . In the training session, the students were amazed to see how the Palash flower petals turning dark golden orange instantly she was pouring hot water from Solar Cookers just in few minutes from the flowers .
She also showed the dried powder of Palash "Gulal " and also Red color of Ambadi, which left them in awe. Many students said that this was the first time they had experienced real Holi. Student Prakash said that in his childhood, he had played Holi with the flowers of Palash, and now he is witnessed how to make it . Suwarnjit learnt the traditional use of Palash leaves, while Shreya said that her grandmother used to make colours with beetroot and carrot but they did not know how to make it . But this was for the first time today she saw it being made herself. Janak Palta McGilligan explained the benefits of natural colours to the participants and said that these colours brighten the skin and glowing , wash off easily with water without any soaps or chemicals . She also made them aware of the bad effects of chemical colours, which cause problems like skin allergy, eye irritation and water pollution as well as wasting lot of water in getting rid of those chemical colours from their body and clothes . She also highlighted the need for celebrating sustainable Festivals as one of the urgent need and solutions to ever-increasing Climate crises , Pollution . Holi is a very pious and cultural festival to increase love peace and unity and using chemical colours ,harming body and environment also causes to violence when people are forced to play Holi and they are afraid of Chemicals.
Prof Laxman Shinde ,Department Head said at Holi is not only just a festival of colours but it is for promoting love, harmony and environment conservation. He expressed his gratitude to Janak didi for organizing such training that transforms the hearts and minds of people specially students like those who are becoming teachers will pass it on to coming generations. He also appealed to people to use natural colours and celebrate a safe and Happy sustainable Holi.
