Urjasvini Special School's Director, Dr. Vini Jhariya, a child and clinical psychologist from Indore, was invited as a guest speaker at the prestigious TEDx event hosted by Motilal Nehru College, Delhi University. Speaking on the theme "Where We Come From," she shared her deeply moving and inspiring life journey.
Dr. Vini revealed that throughout her childhood, she was constantly misunderstood, failing exams and being labeled as "dumb" or "incapable" by teachers and relatives. It was much later that she discovered she is dyslexic and neurodiverse, meaning her brain simply processes information differently. Defying all odds and negative labels, she went on to complete her PhD in Psychology.
Turning her personal struggle into her life's mission, Dr. Vini founded 'Urjasvini Special School' in Indore. Her institutions now provide comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions under one roof, saving local parents from traveling to metro cities.
Concluding her talk, she urged parents and educators to stop labeling children and instead adapt to how they learn. "If a dyslexic child like me can overcome these hurdles to stand on a global platform, our children can achieve wonders if understood at the right time," she stated.
