Indore Launches 6-Month Special Campaign to Control Street Dog Population

Indore is set to launch a special six-month campaign aimed at controlling the growing street dog population in the city. The campaign will involve a well-structured action plan with clear daily targets, including sterilization of street dogs and other measures to tackle the issue effectively. The campaign will see the active participation of the Indore Municipal Corporation, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, NGOs, and local citizens.

The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by District Collector Ashish Singh, where the campaign's framework and strategy were discussed. The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Shivam Verma, Smart City CEO Divyank Singh, and other relevant departmental officials.

Action Plan for Street Dog Control

During the meeting, Collector Singh emphasized the importance of ensuring human safety and the need for effective implementation of this campaign. He instructed that measurable results should be visible within the next six months. The main focus will be on sterilizing street dogs on a daily basis, with the aim to achieve a daily target of at least 75 dogs for sterilization. Currently, 25-30 street dogs are sterilized daily, but the plan is to increase this number significantly in the coming days.

The campaign will run continuously, seven days a week, and will involve increased resources, including more vehicles for catching street dogs, as well as additional support from veterinary doctors. The Animal Husbandry Department will play a crucial role in providing veterinary care and assistance.

Partnership with Citizens and NGOs

The campaign will be a collaborative effort, with the involvement of local citizens and NGOs to ensure maximum participation. The approach is modeled after the success of the "Begging-Free Indore" campaign, emphasizing a systematic and organized strategy for addressing the street dog problem.

Key Goals of the Campaign:

  • Sterilization of Street Dogs: The central objective will be to sterilize a minimum of 75 street dogs daily, eventually covering a significant portion of the population.

  • Increased Resources: More vehicles will be deployed to capture street dogs, and additional veterinary support will be provided.

  • Collaboration with NGOs and Citizens: The participation of NGOs and the community will be essential for the success of the campaign.

This initiative will run for six months, with the goal of achieving significant control over the street dog population in the city.
