The new academic session for government schools across Indore began with fervor and celebration on April 1, 2025, as part of the state government’s initiative to mark the start of a new educational journey. Major celebrations were held at two prominent government schools in the city—CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1 and Chandravati Kanya Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya No. 1. These events were in accordance with directives from the Directorate of Public Instruction, Bhopal.
CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1 served as the central venue for the grand celebrations. The school premises were beautifully adorned, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for students, parents, and teachers alike. The day’s festivities began with a collective oath-signing ceremony where everyone pledged to uphold the institution’s values and rules. Following this, the attendees took part in a joyous procession, dancing to the beats of drums, making their way to the temple of Maa Ahilya Bai within the school grounds. A traditional welcoming ceremony followed, with students receiving tikka, rice, and flower petals—a gesture of blessing and good fortune.
The ceremony continued with prayers offered to Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, at the school’s Ahilya Mandap. The school’s music group presented a beautiful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, which energized the entire gathering. In his address, Principal Ramesh Kumar Sen proudly highlighted the school’s accomplishments from the previous academic year. He emphasized the completion of the school’s new building, which will now accommodate approximately 3,000 students. Despite the school’s growth, Sen assured everyone that the institution would continue to maintain its commitment to providing high-quality education.
Vice-Principal Vipin Kumar Jain also spoke, emphasizing the school’s focus on holistic development, nurturing both academic and co-curricular success through its dedicated teaching staff. He commended the faculty’s efforts in guiding students to excel in all areas.
The chief guest, Ward No. 57 Councillor Suresh Takalkar, congratulated the school community for its outstanding achievements. He also recognized the contributions of several teachers, presenting awards to those who had gone above and beyond in their service to education.
As Rajnish Shrotriya, a teacher at CM Rise Ahilya Ashram School No. 1, remarked: “This event is a reflection of our commitment to the holistic growth of each student—academically and personally. We are excited about the opportunities that the new academic session brings and the potential it holds for all our students to excel.”
Distribution of Textbooks and Cultural Performances Add to the Celebrations
As part of the celebrations, students were given free sets of textbooks under the government’s educational schemes. In addition to the educational aspect, the event featured a series of cultural performances, including songs and bhajans by students, which created a festive and spirited environment. The entire school community also had the opportunity to watch the live telecast of the Pravesh Utsav event from Bhopal, where the Chief Minister officially launched the state-wide celebrations.
A special mid-day meal was served to all students, both in primary and secondary classes, ensuring they were well-nourished for the day’s activities. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Rajesh Shrivastav, acknowledging the support of parents, teachers, and the entire school community.
Focus on Enrolment and Inclusive Education
The academic year for all government schools in Indore officially commenced on April 1, 2025, following the state government’s academic calendar. Special entrance ceremonies were held across the schools to warmly welcome the students and mark the beginning of their educational journey. Following instructions from Collector Ashish Singh, the focus was on achieving 100% student enrolment by March 25, 2025. This included promoting students from classes 1 to 7 and from class 8 to class 11, along with a door-to-door campaign aimed at re-enrolling school dropouts.
The timely distribution of textbooks was a priority to ensure students were well-equipped for their studies right from the start of the year. Senior students were also encouraged to welcome their juniors, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support within the school community. A special meal was also served, making the day not just an academic occasion, but a celebration of community, unity, and the spirit of education.
