Workshop of Making Natural Colours Concluded with Happy Holi of Management Students : Janak Palta McGilligan

Six-day training Workshop of Making Natural Colours (March 7-12, 2025) organized by Jimmy and Janak McGilligan Foundation for Sustainable Development Concluded with Happy Holi of more than 50 Management Students ,their Faculties Pro. Mrs. Shruti Pustak and Pro. Mr. Rahul Borade from Shri Vaishnav Institute of Management & Science , Indore.This Six-day Workshop was conducted by Padma Shri Dr, Mrs Janak Palta McGilligan at Jimmy McGilligan Centre in Sanawadiya . 

 All the participants were given a guided tour of the Campus by Volunteers IT Expert Bharat Singh and Home Schooling director Bharti Batra . They saw the Cow- centred organic farm, More than 10 types of Solar cookers, Solar Food Processing Technologies, purposely designed Solar kitchen and use of wind energy, water harvesting and real self-reliant sustainable Living with efficient & proper use of Natural Resources .  

The workshop started with Ganesh Vandana by Atharva Pandya. Vetran Social worker Mr.Virendra Goyal, Trustee of Jimmy and Janak McGilligan Foundation for Sustainable Development, welcomed all spoke about the seriousness of the ill-effects of industrialization on the environment. He said "If we want to have a Sustainable future for us and of the society, we will have to adopt a sustainable lifestyle and encourage others to do so." 

This was followed by the practical training of making Natural Colours by Janak Palta McGilligan. She greeted them all and said " like last 14 years, this time also, the main objective of this workshop is to train interested people for learning to make Natural Colours is to prepare for Celebrating Eco friendly Holi festival of 2025."  

     

She started practical training by involving the different teams of students and faculties to make the colours from Scratch. All were surprised to see her in action, as soon as she poured hot water into Tesu/Palash flowers in a glass Jug , the water immediately turned golden orange with Saffron Shade . Similarly, she prepared wet and Sticky purple Colour from Poi. She demonstrated both dry and wet colours , deep red colour of Ambadi and Parijat , pigment colour of Beetroot. She also taught making dry Powder purple colour Gulal with Bougainvillaea flowers , rose petals and Orange peel .

All the students and professors were amazed .

 Janak Didi also informed them that chemical colours are harmful for both health and nature. These colours neither come off from the skin nor from the clothes and when they come off, water and the soil also gets polluted .Best is to play such a joyful and beautiful Holi that you feel like playing more.

Sharing their experiences, students Atharva, Jahnavi, Bhavishya, Devanshi and Mahi said that now they will make colours from the flowers and other natural things even used for performing Puja, will adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Atharva said that nothing is useless in nature. Nature does not generate waste, so we should also not give it garbage. We will Keep it clean. Janak Didi wished everyone a Happy Holi. She applied a tilak of Happy Holi with the Sindoor Powder from the own tree in her house .All the students were very happy to receive her blessings and promised that now everyone will celebrate natural Holi. Now you have made our Happy Holi ! Mr. Virendra Goyal thanked and gave his best wishes for Happy Holi !
