Daly College Junior Students Embark on Sustainable Living Journey at Jimmy McGilligan Centre

The Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development (JMCSD), Sanawadiya, hosted a three-day experiential program for Daly College junior students, starting today. The "Immerse and Inspire" program aims to educate students about sustainable living practices and environmental projects, promoting eco-friendly habits and community service.
Hands-on Learning Experience
The students, accompanied by Durga Singh, Round Square Representative (RSR) of Daly College, and four other staff members, were welcomed by Padma Shri Janak Palta McGilligan, Director, JMCSD. They gained hands-on insights into sustainable living practices, including:
- Organic farming and composting
- Rainwater harvesting and zero-waste living
- Solar cooking and energy generation
- Windmill-generated energy and briquetting
- Medicinal plant cultivation and natural remedies

This program is designed to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact on the environment. "Sustainability is not just a practice, but a way of life rooted in gratitude and responsibility," said Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, Founder of JMCSD. "We aim to raise a generation that lives green, thinks clean, and believes in being the change."

Durga Singh, RSR of Daly College, shared that the visit was "transformational," connecting classroom lessons to real-world environmental action.
